Villa médicéenne of Poggio has Caiano
The Villa médicéenne of Poggio has Caiano was built under the orders of Laurent de Médicis and its heirs and according to the plans of Giuliano da Sangallo during the Italian rebirth.
This Villa médicéenne is located on the commune of Poggio has Caiano in the Province of Prato in Toscane; its construction begins in 1485, with a probable pause between 1495 and 1513 due to the exile of the Médicis of Florence.
The gate of via Pratese (Giorgio Vasari) is added in 1562; as for the large staircase of access to the terrace, it will be built only at the beginning of the 19th century (1801-1811).
It is in this villa that François I {{er}} of Médicis and his wife Bianca Cappello was poisoned in 1587, probably on the orders of the Ferdinand cardinal, future Ferdinand I {{er}} of Médicis.
