Villa el El Salvador is a Bidonville of: 300000 inhabitants in the Suburbs of Lima. It is a self-managed urban community. It is a dream in the desert: everyone is entitled to the property of a house. All the infrastructures are built by the population with the available resources. One of the most stimulative projects is a national park irrigé with waste water of the town of Lìma. 90% of the population practice its duty of democracy. The rate of elimination of illiteracy is of 97% and the development is for the needs for the populations. Their practice put on the Community traditions for the social organization. They fill the needs by district and determine each need by district while working to regulate the problems.

Since 2006, Villa el El Salvador is twinned with Tübingen in Germany.
