Viljakkala

Viljakkala is a old municipality south-west of the Finland, in the area of the Pirkanmaa and the province of Western Finland.

It was historically known to shelter a small mine of Or in Haveri. For the anecdote, the Medal S of gold and money distributed to OJ of Helsinki in 1952 were forged with the product of this mine. In addition to gold (300 kg in all) and the money, the mine also produced Cuivre. However, it is the only mine of Europe whose gold was the majority product.

The mine closed down since December 1960 is a local tourist curiosity today, but the rise of the rates of gold and the improvement of the techniques of exploitation with considering the development of plans making a reopening possible in the years to come.

Located within a forest framework not far from Tampere, it does not count less than 125 lakes for a total of 83 km banks. Since January 1st 2007, the small municipality is attached to the town of Ylöjärvi, which will reinforce its integration in the agglomeration of Tampere.

The close municipalities are Ikaalinen in the North-West, Hämeenkyrö in the south, Ylöjärvi in south-east and Kuru in the North-East.
