Viktor Klima , born the June 4th 1947 with Schwechat, is a Austrian politician . He was of 1997 with 2000 federal chancellor and chair social democrat Parti Austria.

During its schooling, Klima was member various social democrat youth movements. During its higher learning (data processing of economy and exploitation), he works with OMV (Austrian oil company). In 1990, it passes from data processing specialist to member of the direction.

In April 1992, the chancellor Franz Vranitzky chooses Klima as federal minister for the Economy and Transport then in 1996 as federal minister for Finances. In January 1997, the withdrawal of Vranitzky opens to him the way with the presidency of the social democrat Party and the post of chancellor.

In 1999, SPÖ, in spite of heavy losses, gains elections with the National council. But it does not have majority and must thus find a partner among the other parties: the accession of Jörg Haider with the Austrian Left freedom, considered then more and more of extreme-right-hand side, makes an alliance with this one impossible, and a coalition with the Greens will not bring the majority. The only possible solution is thus to be combined with the popular party. However, Wolfgang Schüssel, president of this last become vice-chancellor, will form a coalition with the party of Haider after the withdrawal of consecutive Klima to the elections of 1999.

That led Klima to be detached from the policy. He arrives at the direction of Volkswagen in Argentine. Since 2007, its functions in the German firm extended to all the South America.

Married twice, Klima has three children: two of its first wife and one of her current partner.
