Vihti ( Vichtis in Swedish) is a municipality south of the Finland, in the area of Uusimaa and the province of southernmost Finland. It is located in western outer suburbs of the capital Helsinki.
Vihti becomes more and more clearly common a satellite of Helsinki. 4.000 of its inhabitants work in the capital, with Espoo or Vantaa and commutate the every day, which tightens á to increase the traffic and the queues morning and evening on the principal highway leading to the Région of Helsinki. Unemployment rate is thus largely contained, to 6.5% (August 2006).
It is very well connected to the capital, main road 1 being one of the road main axes of the country. The center of Helsinki is located á 49 km of the administrative center of the commune. Turku and Tampere is not far either, respectively 134 km and 151 km. In addition to main road 1, the commune is crossed by main road 25 (Hanko - Mäntsälä) and marks the starting point of the main road 2 worms Pori.
The population is dispersed in several villages which undergo the surge of new inhabitants without the commune not growing in a really coherent way, similar in that with the majority of the other rural districts surrounding Helsinki (Sipoo, Nurmijärvi, Kirkkonummi…). The center administrative, Nummela, account 12.000 inhabitants, and the village of Vihti-center, distant of 7 km, more than 6.000.
The close municipalities are Hyvinkää in the North-East, Nurmijärvi in the east, Espoo in south-east, Kirkkonummi in the south, Siuntio and Lohja in south-west, Nummi-Pusula in the west, Karkkila in the North-West and finally Loppi in north (Kanta-Häme).
