Vigilant (video game)

Vigilante is a Beat them all developed by Irem, left in 1988 on Borne arcade. It makes following Kung-Fu Master , a play of the same developer left in 1984, of which it takes again the Gameplay in its broad outlines.

Scenario

In a world where violence is omnipresent the vigilante groups do the work which the police force is not able to ensure. The hero, member of one of these groups, decides to go to deliver his boyfriend Madonna removed by a gang of skinheads and to make justice itself.

Gameplay

Vigilante takes again the bases of Kung-Fu Master , i.e. the action proceeds on a single plan and that the player can move only on the horizontal axis. The enemies arrive by small groups either by the line, or by the left and to demolish itself some there exist two possible attacks: the punch or the kick. These two attacks can be carried out upright, dropped or at the time of jumps. It is also possible to collect Nunchaku S at certain times of the play to eliminate its adversaries more quickly. Each level is completed by a Boss difficult to beat whose bar of life is regenerated with the wire of time.

The interface is also very close to that of Kung-Fu Master , the bars of life of the hero and the boss are at the same place and the meter time is always present. Certain enemies have also a behavior inherited this play and come to clutch the player until he dies. The mode with two players also preserves the same system of alternation and thus does not allow to play into simultaneous. Finally it is noted that the difficulties which the player must overcome (not to let itself overflow, to react quickly) are appreciably the same ones between these two titles.

Conversions

Popular, the play was converted into 1989 on many supports, as well on console S as on Micro-ordinateur S: PC-Engine, Master System, Amiga, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum. A version MSX was also marketed in South Korea.
