Viganella

Viganella is a common of the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the area Piedmont in Italy.

Geography

Viganella is a commune of the Valle Antrona. The valley is so narrow and so deep that Viganella does not see any sun ray of mid-November at the end of January.

A giant mirror of 8 X 5 meters is installed, since November 26th, 2006, on the mountain which dominates Viganella and reflects the rays of the sun in winter for to illuminate the central piazza.

History

The inhabitants of Viganella formed a community of minors, exploiting iron and coal. July 21st, 1217, the bishop of Novare, Oldeberto Torneffi, rents with foundry foreman a furnace with Vai Magliasca in the commune of Viganella.

The " Candelora" , on February 2nd. A fir tree is decorated by artisanal products and typical gastronomical products.
