Vienna (Seine-Maritime)

The Vienna is a river of Seine-Maritime, tributary of the Saâne.
It is born on the territory from Beauval-in-Caux, follows a direction almost parallel with the Saâne during the first part of its race, before being directed towards the North-West and joining the coastal river with Gueures, at the end of a course of 15 kilometers. Vienna brings 0,42 m ³ /s to Saâne at the time of its junction to Gueures (for a catchment area of 88 km ²).
The valley of Vienna is strongly marked by the medieval time and the originality of the churches of its villages. With Beauval-in-Caux, a Motte castrale recalls that the area was controlled by Ansgoth, a companion of Rollon; with Lammerville was built, the 12th century, a fortress of which it remains little of vestiges. Many are the religious buildings which are made conspicuous by rare characteristics in the Pays of Caux; the Romance church of Beauval-in-Caux has a Clocher with bulb, that of Holy-Genevieve-of-Beaunay a wall-belfry, that of Saint-Mards revêt the aspect of a barn dîmière.
To support the economic activity (about fifteen mills were established on its course like the Marquet mill with Lamberville. This route, open in 1913, did not resist road competition and was closed in 1946
