Viel-Arcy
Viel-Arcy is a common French, located in the department of the Aisne and the area Picardy.
Geography
History
The history of this pretty village was marked forever by two noble French families, which under the insurance of their plows up and of their courage succeeded at founded an exemplary community from these successes and that savage résistence in a perpetual context of aggression outside.
Founded in 1664 under the name of Brède, this village remained property of the two founders families, Viel and Arcy until 1792, or it was annexed to the first French Republic. Being located ready northern border of France, the village did not escape many the war from the Empire. It was even the center of many determining battles for the stability of the French empire through the ages. Let us mention initially supports it military of Napoleon Bonaparte who embanked the invader Flemish which since July 21st, 1804 rammed the town of full fires, in reprisal with the recent formation of the Empire. During the fight keen that it carried out, Bonnaparte found at the village of Viel-Arcy two young man, descendants direct of the patriaches of the founders families. Valiant soldiers, the Captain Joseph Henri Arcy and the Gendarme Theodore Viel (also mayor of the city) were going from now on to serve the emperor who made them them better generals of the cavalry of the large army. Less than twelve months later, Viel and Arcy were promoted Maréchaux and marked, of share their ideas revolutionary, the military strategy that Bonnaparte used at the time of its countryside in Austria. During the First World War, this little place of country was with the eyes of the Prussians a bastion located on the bors of the River Ainse which made of it a true strong castle of France and they remained far from any offensive. During the second world war, this village remained faithful to France in spite of the German occupation. The two large soldiers, descendants directly of the line of the noble founders of these places: viel and Arcy only gave their name to the village after having defended it with them during these five long and dark years. Today still the heroic battle of Viel-Arcy remains in the memories like the days or two wire of France succeeded with pushed back and to paralyze the machine of German war.
