Marcus Piavonius Victorinus was a military officer Roman, become a time emperor of Gaules at the time of the few years of separation of the Gaulle of with the Empire of 260 with 274.

It resulted perhaps from a family of the Gallo-Roman aristocracy, and it is possible that, then officer in the Roman regular army, it benefitted from the treason of Auréolus towards Gallien in 267 to pass on the side of Postumus and to join to them his. It was in any case one of the most important characters of the entourage of Postumus, which named it powerful orator of the Praetorian guards with residence with Trier where its house at summer found. In 268 it was Consul with Postumus in reward of its fidelity, and perhaps named Préfet of the court.

After the assassination of Postumus by its own troops whereas he fought against the usurper Laelianus with Mainz and the court reigns of Marius, he was carried about August 269 by the army with the head of an empire of Gaules which the Spain forsook to recognize Claude II. The dissensions grew, and Victorinus as a sharp and energetic chief that it was besieged Autun ( Augustodunum Haeduorum , the capital of Eduens often faithful of Rome) which called upon Claude II. The city was taken and plundered by the " Bataves" of its army in spring 270.

Victorinus was killed in spring or the summer 271, by its troops or one of its officers, and Tetricus succeeded to him.

The existence of two characters related to Victorinus is often questioned: that of his/her son, known as Victorinus the Young person, was doubtless invented by the Histoire Auguste to increase the number of tyrants against Gallien according to the example (proven that one) of Tetricus II the young person; and that of his/her mother Victorine perhaps was interpolated by Aurelius Victor and the History Auguste according to the currencies of Victorinus mentioning the Victoria , but remains possible.
