Victor Wooten
Victor Lemonte Wooten , born the September 11th 1964 is a American Bassiste of fusion, i.e. Jazz-rock'n'roll and Jazz-Funk.
Its beginnings
It was youngest of 5 brothers. His/her Regi brother taught him the low one at the 3 years age. They formed a group, the Wooten Brother Band (Governed, Rudy, Roy, Joseph and Victor) with which it played of many years during the seventies around Williamsburg in Virginia in the amusement park Busch Gardens.
Its career
In 1988, it goes to Nashville (Tennessee) and is immediately recruited by the singer of Blues and Soul Jonel Mosser. One year later, it is dealt with by the large player of Banjo Béla Fleck. With the clavierist and player of harmonica Howard Levy, like his brother Roy Wooten (alias Future Man), they form the group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. They will become famous for their style of hesitant fusionesque play between the Jazz and the Funk.
Other groups and techniques
Wooten was also member of several groups of fusion and progressive, of which Bass Extreme (with Steve Bailey, Derico Watson and Oteil Burbridge), The Vital Tech Tones (with Scott Henderson and Steve Smith), the trio Extraction (with Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers), and the famous saxophonist Bill Evans. It also often was in round with other groups like Dave Matthews Band.
The standards increasingly high in the construction of low electric modern made it possible Wooten hitherto a41dernier $c-b1, e,10 $c-b26 ce $c-b16 $c-b43, bn,84 to develop techniques unknown. Most famous is that of the double return ticket to the inch (Slap return ticket), where it uses its inch like a Médiator or its play of impressive Tapping.
Although it is normally difficult to make comparisons, Victor Wooten however reached on low creative and technical level unequalled to date. Gaining many time the titles of better bass player of the year, and not having any competitor which can compete, it does not form today any more part of the “competition”…
