Victor Suin

Victor Suin is a French senator, born with Laon the October 28th 1797, died with Chatou the December 16th 1877, buried with Laon. Former lawyer-general close the Court of Paris, former senator, large-officer of the Legion of honor.

Life and career

After excellent studies started with Laon and finished with the Louis-the-Large college , it followed the courses of the Faculty of Law of Paris and was accepted laid off in 1820. It was made register following the bar of Laon.

In February 1831, he refused the post of public prosecutor close the court of Amiens; but a few months after it accepted a modest seat of temporary judge to the court of Laon.

It belonged to the Municipal council, It was even assistant to the mayor.

In 1836, it entered to the General advice of the department of Aisne. In 1842, it was pointed out while fighting have favor of the administration against the opposition in the burning question of the census, fights in which its main adversary was Mr. Odilon Barrot, which had taken, in a political interest, the role of defender of municipal freedoms.

Prosecuting attorney it required against Charles HUGO on June 11th, 1851. In: The Punishments (VII, X, II, 40) Victor HUGO treats it “reject of the brook” and in (X, II 55) known as: “SUIN, you are a prig”. (Notes: Charles HUGO is the oldest son of Victor. Following this lawsuit it was locked up with the caretaker's lodge)

Suin was named, in 1852, to advise State in ordinary service.

In October 1863, Mr. Suin was high with the dignity of Senator.

Named in 1867, member of the large charged commission to make the agricultural investigation, it was delegated for the departments of the Aisne, the Northern and the Pas-de-Calais.

He obtained the cross of knight as lawyer and general adviser, that of officer as magistrate of the Court of Appeal of Paris. Its work with the Council of State was worth the cord of commander to him, and it is as senator and after da the business the Isthme of Suez that it was high with the eminent rank of large-officer.

The Revolution of September 4th removed its title of senator to him.

Before the Commune, it took refuge with its family with Laon, at her nephew, Mr. Jules Pourrier, who was then vice-president of the council of prefecture.
