Saint Victor III is a pope, born under the name Dauferius in 1027 with Bénévent and died in 1087, but more known under the name of Desiderius (or Didier) of Mount-Cassin , is the son of the prince Landolf V of Bénévent.

Pontificate

Victor III is pope of the May 24th 1086 with the September 16th 1087. It continues the work of reform of Gregoire VII. After 16 months spent as chief of the Church, it dies out with the Mount-Cassin, of which he had been the abbot.

Leon XIII granted the title of saint to him without it undergoing a lawsuit of canonization.
