Victor Antoine Andréossy
The baron Victor Antoine Andréossy , born the August 9th 1747 with Ventenac d' Aude and dead the November 14th 1819 with Antibes, is a Général French of the genius.
State of service
Lieutenant as a second, it entered on January 1st, 1766 to the school of the genius of Mézières, and left there with the ordinary title of Engineer. He became lieutenant in first on January 1st, 1768, and Capitaine on January 1st, 1777. He was employed with Narbonne in 1783, with Collioure in 1789 when he was named chief of the genious, then with Port-Vendres in 1791 in the same function. Named knight of Saint-Louis on February 20th, 1791, it was employed with the Armée with the Pyrenees, then the Eastern Pyrenees in 1793. It organized this year the fortified camps in front of Collioure, Port-Vendres, then Perpignan, was used for the Combat of Vernet and was wounded with the left shoulder by a glare of shell with Peyrestortes on September 17th, 1793.Temporarily named major of the genius on October 18th, 1793, confirmed in this rank by the executive provisional council on March 9th, 1794, it was used for the Bataille of Albères from April 27th to 30th, with the seat of the Fort Saint-Elme, of Collioure, Port-Vendres, then with Escola, Liers and Vilartory on November 20th, with the catch of Figuières, the seats of Roses and of the Fort of the Button. It was named on May 11th, 1795 sub-manager of the fortifications with Saint-Malo, while preserving its employment at the Armée with the Eastern Pyrenees. After namebeing named chief of brigade of the genious on October 16th, 1795, then acting manager from the fortifications in Antibes on January 30th, 1797, and Nice on August 7th, it passed to the Armée with Helvétie on June 6th, 1798, where it took part in the Combats of Schwyz on September 9th, Coire and Frauenfeld.
Named temporarily Brigadier general by the general-in-chief Masséna on July 25th, 1799, it was used for Zurich on August 15th, then on September 27th. It was confirmed brigadier general by the executive Directory on October 19th, 1799, and director of the fortifications with Montpellier on March 14th, 1800, before being reformed on June 4th, 1802.
General inspector of the genious on January 24th, 1803, ordering the genius of the camp of Bruges on August 27th, 1803, it was named ordering Légion of honor on June 14th, 1804, and ordering the genius of the 3rd body of the Large army under Davout on August 29th, 1805, then ordering by interim the genius of the Large army on October 25th. He passed under Marescot in December 1805, then was again ordering by interim the genius of the Large army in September 1806.
Recalled to Paris on September 20th, 1806, it left to be useful in Prussia, then, on its return in France the 4 févruer 1807, it was charged to inspect the forts of Brest. It obtained on March 17th, 1808 an equipment of 4000 francs annual rent on the goods reserved in Westphalia, and was named baron of the Empire in May 1808. Ordering the genius under Masséna in Austria on March 22nd, 1809, it was allowed with the retirement on July 22nd, 1814 at the 67 years age.
