Vicente Guerrero

Vicente Ramón Guerrero Saldaña (August 10th 1782 - February 14th 1831) was a Mexican politician and one of the first presidents of Mexico.

It had been born in a poor family in the small town from Tixla, to 100 km of the town of Acapulco in Western Sierra Veined.

It initially joined the first revolts against the Spain in 1810, fighting with dimensions Jose María Morelos and then by taking the command of its troops after the death of this last.

When Mexico obtained independence, he collaborated initially with Agustín de Iturbide (he accepted even his Grande cross about the Guadeloupe and the row of general in his imperial army). However, shortly after that Iturbide had proclaimed itself emperor, Guerrero declared being in favor of a republic with the Plan of Put Subdued .

When the conservative Manuel Gómez Pedraza gained the elections and seemed able to succeed Guadalupe Victoria like chair of Mexico, Guerrero with the assistance of the general Antonio López de Santa Anna, organized a coup d'etat and assumed the chairmanship on April 1st 1829. (The violent nature of this blow displeased with liberals of Latin America which differently sympathized with the goals of Guerrero, and its actions were condemned by Simón Bolívar.) The most notable result of the short period of Guerrero (which was a mulatto) as president was an immediate abolition of the Esclavage and the emancipation of all the slaves.

Guerrero was deposed by a consequence of state on December 4th, 1829. He hoped to return to the capacity but the preserving general Anastasio Bustamente captured it by bribing mercenaries, on January 15th 1831 and made it pass by the weapons on February 14th, 1831.

The Mexican state of Guerrero is dedicated to him and its town of birth was renamed Tixla de Guerrero

Its remainders rest in the Mausolée located at the base of El Ángel of Independencia to Mexico City, in company of those of: Juan Aldama, Ignacio Allende, Nicolás Cheer, Miguel Hidalgo there Costilla, Jose Mariano Jiménez, Mariano Matamoros, Francisco Javier Undermined, Jose María Morelos there Pavón, Andrés Quintana Roo, Leona Vicario and Guadalupe Victoria
