A vice-president , shortened in VP , is a Officier working for a Gouvernement or a Entreprise. The Latin word vice meaning “in the place of”, its station is located hierarchically under the President. In certain countries, one prefers the title “associated with the president”.
In a government, a vice-president is a Politicien whose first function is to replace the president it if this last is absent, resigns, dies or is not available to fulfill its mission, does not matter the reason. According to the political system, he either is elected like fellow candidate (as in the United States), or specifically elected for the station or appointed once the elected president.
The governments with vice-presidents have in general only one person occupying this station. In several presidential systems, the vice-president holds little political power for the current operations, but is often regarded as an important member of the Cabinet. In various countries of the American continent, it holds the symbolic system role of President of the senate.
The vice-president is sometimes used at the time of Cérémonie S official which falls to the president if this last is too occupied. For example, the Vice-president of the United States is often present at the Funérailles Heads of State, in place of the US president. In this case of figure, the vice-president is De facto a Head of State, a position which does not appear in the political systems where the positions of Head of State and chief of the government are amalgamated.
Each democratic system is different from different for historical reasons. Consequently, the post of vice-president is defined differently. In the parliamentary systems, the majority of the States do not have a vice-president, but name in the place an officer substitute, often the president of the room or the Prime Minister.
An executive vice-president is seldom the “next one on the list” when a new president is appointed. It is the Board of directors which names the latter.
A Trade union can also elect a vice-president to serve his members.
