Vicara
Vicara
-
Vicara (Faded) means constant attention; this term indicates in fact the attitude of contemplating practitioner Samatha bhavana and focusing its attention on the object of practice.
-
This maintenance of the attention does not indicate the concentration by itself. It means that contemplating it made the effort maintain its attention. A comparison is that Vitakka consists in holding a bowl of a hand and that will vicara consists, other, to clean it.
-
Vicara is a driving factor with the concentration, present in the first jhana.
