Viatka

The Viatka (in Russian Вя́тка   ; in husband Виче ) is a river of Russia of Europe and a right affluent of the Kama, on the territory of the Oblast de Kirov and the republic of Tatarstan. It is long of 1  314  km and its basin have a surface of 129  000  km ².

Viatka takes its source in the north of the republic of Oudmourtie, in Russia, by 58,20° Northern, 52,20° Is, on the western buttresses of the mountains of the the Ural. The river initially runs towards north then the west and finally towards south-west while crossing the town of Kirov. It is inclined then towards south-east and joined Kama while being thrown in the lake of the Barrage of Nijnekamsk to 35 km in the west of Nijnekamsk.

Its principal affluents are the rivers Kobra, Letka, Velikaïa, Moloma, Pijma, Tcheptsa, Bystritsa, Voïa and Kilmez.

Viatka is the greatest river of the oblast of Kirov and is navigable on 700 km from the town of Kirov to its mouth. Viatka is taken in the ices of at the beginning of November until mid-April. The main cities located on its course are Kirov, Kotelnitch, Sovetsk, and Viatskie Poliany.

The town of Kirov was called Viatka of 1780 with 1934.
