Viarmes is a common French, located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France.

Geography

Viarmes is located in the valley of the Ysieux, in the north of the flat of France, and to approximately 30 km in the north of Paris. The commune is bordering on: Asnières-on-Oise, Seugy, Belloy-in-France and Saint-Martin-of-Hillock.

History

The name of Viarmes comes from of Provence the olm or olme , derived from Latin ulmus , elm, which were the crowned tree of the Bellovaques, Gallic people of the Beauvaisis. Another evoked origin is " via armorum" , road of the weapons, because Viarmes was located on the road between Lutèce and the military camp of Jules César located at Gouvieux. At the end of the 11th century, the parish is given by Renaud de Clermond to the priory of Saint-Martin-of-Fields of Paris. Seigniory as of the Fountain in 1525, the village becomes the property of Jean-Baptiste Élie Camus de Pontcarré, Prévôt of the merchants of Paris, in 1758 which made rebuild the castle the same year and which made bore in 1763 the street of Paris with Viarmes. The railway line Montsoult - Luzarches is inaugurated in 1880, with a station in the commune.
