Viaduct of Kochertal

The bridge of the valley of Kocher (in German, Kochertalbrücke ) is the most bridge of Germany and the higher second of the world, after the Viaduc of Millau. The bridge is with 178 meters with the top of the ground, for a maximum height of 185 meters.

Located near Geislingen amndt Kocher, it allows the highway has 6 with four ways to cross the valley of Kocher, between Heilbronn and Nuremberg.

Construction

Built in Concrete reinforced, the bridge is composed of nine parts: it is 1128 meters long, divided into seven sections of 138 meters in the medium and a section of 81 meters at each ends. It makes 31 meters broad. The eight pillars have between 40 and 178 meters in height. It was built between 1976 and 1979 jointly by the companies ED. Züblin AG, DYWIDAG und Wayss & Freytag.

Museum

A museum opened in Geislingen, devoted to the bridge. It presents not only all information concerning construction, but also of the counterparts of the bones of Dinosaure S extracted during excavation work.
