Viaduct Maria Pia
The Pont Maria Pia is a work of art built between January 1876 and November 1877 with Oporto (Portugal) to cross the Douro. This Bridge arch is the first railway bridge to join two banks of Douro. It was conceived by Gustave Eiffel and his associate Theophilus Seyrig within the company of Eiffel construction and Co. It is unused since 1991.

The viaduct Dom-Luís, connecting Oporto to Vila Nova de Gaia, resembles the viaduct Maria Pia much but it has in more one lower apron for the road traffic. It was built between 1881 and 1886 by Theophilus Seyrig who then joined the Willebroeck Company.
