ViaMichelin , subsidiary of Michelin, expresses the will of the group to contribute to the progress of the Mobilité. It designs and markets numerical products and services of assistance to displacement.

Description

Creation in 2001 of ViaMichelin shows the will of its single shareholder Michelin, to begin durably in the assistance with mobility on supports Numérique S. After being itself imposed on the market of the charts and tourist guides with the Guide Michelin and the Cartes Michelin, Michelin decides to combine its knowledge to make tourist and its spirit of innovation to propose a whole of services of assistance to mobility on the new numerical supports: Internet, PDA, CD-ROM, DVD-Romanian, Mobile telephony, Minitel and GPS portable.

ViaMichelin counts 200 employees today and has establishments with Boulogne-Billancourt, London, Darmstadt - Griesheim, Madrid and Milan.

Numerical services

The services and ViaMichelin products are intended to the private individuals like with the companies in the search of accurate informations like cartographic posting and the location, calculation of road routes or downtown, the search of hotels and restaurants, information on the traffic, the tourist information…

European Internet site

Internet site of ViaMichelin passed the bar of the million visits by day. ViaMichelin covers more than 42 countries in Europe and indexes 7 million kilometers of Routes and streets.

Internet site ViaMichelin is available in six languages (French, English, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch) and its service of reservation of hotels counts more: 60000 establishments in all Europe.

The database of exclusive contents of the Guides Michelin proposes: 18000 tourist places and: 62000 hotels and restaurants tested and selected. This database is enriched by information related to the traffic, the weather, the fixed radars, the service stations…

In September 2006, ViaMichelin launches out in the Web 2.0 by putting on line a Blog which presents the innovations, the various functions of the site, the vidéos…

Internet site also has an online shop completely dedicated to the product sales of assistance to mobility like the navigation systems by GPS, the Logiciels for PDA, of CD-ROM, charts SD…

Mobile Internet

The ViaMichelin services are from now on available to the the United Kingdom (02), France (Bouygues Telecom), Italy (Wind), Spain (Telefónica), Germany (E-Plus), Holland (Base) and Belgium on the gate I-mode. The users can reach many services like the automatic geolocalisation, the calculation of routes and the search for tourist addresses (hotels, restaurants, service stations).

Software for PDA

ViaMichelin also develops software for PDA. The consumers can thus find the services which make the force of ViaMichelin: the calculation of routes and the posting of charts but also the Michelin guide.

Navigation GPS

ViaMichelin accelerates its development on the numerical market of assistance to mobility while launching, in October 2005, a portable system GPS which combines technology and contents.

ViaMichelin proposes an offer of GPS which integrate out of standard the Michelin guides as well as qualified contents (service station, Radar S,…). ViaMichelin also offers in its solutions a free service of information traffic in real-time, which covers all the highways and the main roads in Europe and in particular in France, all the peripherals of the big cities and Paris intramurally.

ViaMichelin also proposes this service of information traffic to the car manufacturers. Since September 2006, all vehicles of the marks Peugeot - Citroen equipped with a navigation system integrates ViaMichelin Trafic.
