Vezet is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Saône and the area Franche-Comté.
Geography
Vezet is located at approximately 22 kilometers as the crow flies in the west of
Vesoul, in the department of the
Haute-Saône. The commune is bordering on the chief town of canton
Fresne-Saint-Mamès.
Part of the communal territory is crossed by the valley of the Roman, river which takes its source with Fondremand and which throws eight hilometers downstream and in north in the the Saone.
History
The Co-seigniory was divided between the abbey of Charity and the laic lords of which the first bore the name of Vezet. The Seigniory of Vezet, like those of Grancourt, Large and Small Built, Gatineuries and dependences were set up in county on September 5th, 1749 under the name of Comté of Mareschal for Charles-Luc Joseph Claude Mareschal de Vezet.
In 1637, four hundred inhabitants were killed by the soldiers or the plague; in 1788, a serious fire destroys part of the village.
