Comments

  • the series was cancelled two days after the presentation of the programs of The CW for the year 2007-2008 because of its catastrophic audiences (sometimes even lower than 2 million, which is the less good than audience realized on average in France) and of its loss of obvious quality noted by many fans.
  • the series belongs to the “great wine” of the televisual season 2004-2005 (at the sides of Lost, the missings , the 4400 , Desperate Housewives and Grey' S Anatomy ), which, according to criticisms, the revival of the American televised fictions marked. And although, contrary to its counterparts quoted above, Veronica Mars side of the audiences is not a “blockbuster”, it does not remain about it less one of the most outstanding and original series of these last years.

  • the music of the credits is We Used to Be Friends of the group The Dandy Warhols. To note that the singer of the group, Courtney Taylor Taylor made an appearance in episode 2.03 of Veronica Mars ( Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang ).

  • the force of this series, unanimously applauded by the critics the beginning of his diffusion, holds in a rate/rhythm handled extremely well by the scenario writers. The projection in the mystery which this murder constitutes makes gradually, but he is never forgotten well a long time.

  • After several weeks of waiting to know if Veronica Mars would be renewed for one season 3 (thing which was not gained in advance, considering the weak audiences which the series with the length of its season 2 made), suspense is finally finished and the fans can be delighted: VM will be there for season 2006/2007! Thanks to the important mobilization of the very many fans and set on the series (which made feet and hands to draw the attention, like making gift of DVD of the series to libraries, or collecting money to be able to make fly a plane above saying Los Angeles with a streamer: " Renew Veronica Mars ! "), and with " the amour" what carries the director of the chain to the series, this one was indeed renewed. Initially, 13 episodes were ordered for season 3. The audiences being more where less correct, 7 additional episodes were announced, which changes to 20 the number of episode for the 3rd season. Veronica will thus be diffused on the new chain The CW (which begins in September 2006), fruit of fusion between The WB and UPN (this-last which diffused the series during 2 seasons). Even if it were very probable, even before the official announcement, that the series belongs to the grid of the programs of the new chain, concern were not made any less feel since to create a new grid of the programs starting from two different chains, each one having their clean series, there would be obligatorily sacrifices on the 2 sides. And The WB and UPN each one cancelled much their current series, making the happy ones and the unhappy ones. The fans of Veronica , them, belong to happy, their heroin being well of return!

  • the last episode of season 2 gave the indication that Veronica Mars would be renewed for one season 3. When Duncan receives a call on its mobile, he answers " C.W? " (the initial ones of its interlocutor (Clarence Wiedeman)). This one answers him " It' S.A. gives deal" (Regulated Business). The fans thus knew by the mischievousness of the scenario writers that the renewal was not almost any doubt.

  • At the time of its third season, Veronica Mars records very weak scores of audience, leaving him only few chances for a fourth season. Season which according to certain rumors should be completely altered to discover a Veronica, five years after, starting a formation with FBI. The leaders of The CW met the May 2nd to tackle the subject. After having announced that a decision would be made the June 15th 2007, The CW finally preferred to cancel the series two days after the upfronts (which is the name of the press conference organized by certain television channels American announcing the program of the next season).

Campaigns of fans

The series attracted a base of extremely honest and devoted fans which continues to grow. Communities developed via Internet and several of enters took part in minor or major campaigns to attract more televiewers and of publicity with Veronica Mars to ensure the success of the series.

A group of fans, on LiveJournal, which is called the Cloud Watchers , made several actions since spring 2006, when the stations UPN and The WB were going to amalgamate in The CW. The May 9th 2006, the group rented the services of a plane to fly between the offices of UPN to Los Angeles and the future site of the offices of The CW to Burbank, which drew a banner with the words " RENEW VERONICA MARCH! CW 2006! " in particular to draw the attention of the executives of the chain and the media. They had previously sent packages including of the binoculars, of information on the flight plan of the plane and the gifts inspired of Veronica Mars to the future executives of CW and influential people in the media of entertainments.

After the advertisement of the renewal of the series for a third season the May 18th 2006, the fans did not stop the campaigns. The Cloud Watchers began of it a news, this one to attract more televiewers with Veronica Mars while giving of DVDs of the first season to libraries everywhere in the United States. To the June 30th, they had given more: 18300 dollars of DVDs.

In spite of a new campaign of fans in spring 2007 (where they sent chocolate bars of Mars to the leaders of the chain) to ask for the renewal of Veronica Mars for a fourth season, The CW announced that the series was indeed finished. Rob Thomas nevertheless let imply that the series could return in the form of film or from comics.
