Vernaison
Vernaison is a common French, located in the department of the the Rhone and the area the Rhone-Alps.
The inhabitants of Vernaison are called Vernaisonnais.
Geography
Commune posed along the the Rhone in the south of Lyon, on Right Bank. Fact face in various islands of the the Rhone.
History
- Bronze Age: Along the Rhone, settle bronze founders. One found south of Lyon to Vienna several deposits. At, one updates the trésor of Vernaison, raw material of a bronze founder. This treasure is visible with the Gallo-Roman museum of Lyon. Important, this treasure consists of 13 hâches, 5 daggers, 14 pins, several sickles and other objects of times.
- 1213 : foundation by Johan Rufus, abbot of the abbey of Ainay (Lyon)
- 13th century: Toll on the Rhone with the turn of " genetière" (today Turn of Millery)
- 14th century: construction of cob houses and rollers resulting from the River.

- 1787 : Opening of the factory of Indians by 3 Swiss coming from Geneva.

It is into 1153 that Vernaison (Veyrneyson) is quoted for the first time in a written document of the time.
The etymology of the name of the commune is known little about, however, one can recognize the name Verne (alder), tree very present in moist environments.
The parish of Vernaison was an appendix of Charly until in 1791.
Discovered Bronze deposit with Vernaison.
The discovery of the objects out of bronze of Vernaison was made in September 1856 in the property of the mayor of the time Mr. Donat. The report/ratio of this discovery was drawn up by Mr. A. Commarmond, inspector divisional of the French company of archeology. The field of the discovery bore the name of the Wild rabbits. It is at the time to turn over the ground that the farmers discovered to 60 cm of depth, two vases apart 20 meters. These two vases, facts of clay and white gravel, had a 40 height cm size for 35 cm in diameter. The broken vases showed important contents: 135 objects (21 kg) in the first, and 72 (17 kg) in the second.
75 parts, worthy of interest were recovered by the museum of Lyon. The remains remaining were to be molten by Mr. Donat to make of it a ballot box pointing out the discovery. Among these parts, the inventory of the time mentions: 12 styles, 13 against weight of lance, 30 bracelets, 5 blades of dagger, 1 ornament in sheet of bay-tree, 1 pendentive, 1 band decorated with mouldings.

- Church of the 19th century, built in 1869 (Farge architect), devoted in 1873. The old Romance Church does not exist any more.

- Historic building: Vestiges of the " house of Cornevent" (registered in 1973), located road of Givors, towards number 33 of the street.
- Historic building: building and park of the " Lake enchanté" (19th century, registered in 1986), located 770 chemin des Gaupières
- Historic building: building and park of " The fairy of Eaux" (XIXe century, registered in 1986), located 12 rue de la Fée des Eaux.
- Pile of bank: vestige of the trail ferry. Before the first bridge (1902), the crossing was done on flat-bottomed boats, guided by a cable tended between two banks. Of each dimensioned, piles maintained the cable in height. The pile still in place is out of stone. The vat was used until 1902, date of the opening of a first suspended bridge. This bridge was destroyed in 1940. The taken again vat of the service until 1959.

- the écrivan Bernard Clavel lived in Vernaison of 1945 with 1957. It wrote two there Romance S: the Workman of the Pirate night and of the Rhone
