Vernacular Name

A vernacular Nom is a name usually given to one (or several) species (S) animal (S) or vegetable (S) in its country or its area of origin. He is opposed to the Nom binominal which is a single scientific name everywhere in the world and with the Nom standardized in a precise language.

Problems

The same species has many various vernacular names in each language, but also in same the langue.
Example: Scyliorhinus canicula is called in French dogfish or Saumonette.

The problem is that certain vernacular names are used for several species différentes.
Example: dogfish is also the name of the bat of the kind Rousettus .
