Verica
Verica , or Berikos , as it is named by Dion Cassius (LX, 19), becomes king of the tribe of the Atrébates around 15. It is youngest of wire of Commios.
It establishes its capital with Calleva Atrebatum , current Silchester in insular Brittany. Its currencies carry Latin names and titles (CO.F, REX…), already indicating a possible relation with Rome.
Vis-a-vis the expansionism of the tribe of the Catuvellauni, under their kings Eppillos and Caratacos, Verica leaves the island of Brittany and arrives at Rome. It is possible that its action supported the conquest of the island by the Emperor Claude, in 43.
Verica disappears then from the sources, and Cogidubnus is perhaps installed on the whole of its old territory.
