Verel-Pragondran

Verel-Pragondran is a common French, located in the department of the Savoy and the area the Rhone-Alps. Geography

The common one has a surface of 6,53 km ², for a little more than 400 inhabitants (408 in 1999). It is between 432 and 1500 m of altitude and is near Chambéry (5 km). Its inhabitants are Will have-Gondraniers and Have-Gondranières them.

In the high part of Verel-Pragondran, to 900 m of altitude, a very appreciated site of takeoff for parapentes is.

The festival of the bread

Traditionally, last Sunday of August, the commune organizes the Festival of the Bread. This one is held close to the two old baker's ovens of the commune, which for the occasion are lit and used to make breads, pizza pies… which will be sold the very same day. It is also the occasion for the small ones and the large ones to distract themselves with traditional plays, and to share a meal or glass.

Personalities related to the commune

Mr. Jean-Pierre Drivet, great champion of oar, in particular medal-holder of money in four of point without cox man at the time of the championships of the world of Lucerne in 1962, lived in the commune until his death.
