Verdelais is a common French, located in the department of the the Gironde and the area Aquitaine.

Geography

History

  • 11th century]]: construction of a church dedicated to Maurice saint at the edge of the Garonne
  • 1112: Géraud of the Low registers, knight leaves out of Holy Land in 1099, where it is illustrated brilliantly at the sides of Godefroy de Bouillon. On its return he becomes hermit and builds a small vault in the honor of Notre-Dame. He dies in 1159
  • 1160: Arrived of the Limousin, of the monks Grandmont ains build a monastery known as of Notre-Dame of the Luc

  • 1190: charter of Richard Lion-hearted in favor of Notre-Dame de Verdelaye
