The strategy of Veolia Transport is based on:
- a series of successive acquisitions which enabled him to have a presence in all the French areas and of many continents ( America, of North, Asia, Oceania, Europe… ). Two of largest acquisitions being that of the group Tourism Verney in France in 2002 and ATC in the United States in 2005. These acquisitions involved several reorganizations in particular in the Rhone-Alps where TVRA became Connex Rhôdalia in 2005 and ATC, Veolia Transportation,
- the answer and profit of invitations to tender allowing him to consolidate its market shares in France ( Tram-Train " Leslys" connecting Lyon to its airport, urban networks of Saint-Dizier or Arcachon in France, etc ) and abroad ( Metrolink with Los Angeles, TriRail with Miami, Drunk Orange County, Denver, Austin or Antelope Valley ) with the United States inter alia, etc ) for the most recent profits.
Appearance in the media general public
France
Veolia Transport, subsidiary transport of Veolia Environnement, recent mark created in 2005 appeared in the media initially under the name of " General of Eaux" since 1890 then under that of " CGFTE" in particular with Bordeaux, Rouen, Nancy and Chambéry and finally under the name of " Connex" after many fusions having taken place in the profession in years 1980/1990. Its development accelerated as from 2002 in France in particular with:
- the recovery in 2002 of the group of the Great West Verney, primarily interurban, which exploited also the urban networks of Vannes, Fougères, Flers, Chinon, Saumur and Sablé-sur-Sarthe, inter alia, like that of Granville under contract with the Department of the English Channel,
- the recovery in the course of the exploitation of SNCM in 2005 after a social crisis of strong very mediatized width. The invitation to tender for the service road of the Corsica being always outstanding until April 2007.
Veolia Transport with the support of the network TBC of Bordeaux and its elected officials developed the first tram with food by the ground ( APS ) which it exploits in the crossing of the historical center of the city ( place of the Stock Exchange and course of the Intendance, in particular ). It is about a innovating technology developped at the point by Alstom which knew a development difficult now solved with a reliability of about 98% at the beginning of 2007. This new technology had problems with starting and caused the first two years of strong disturbances in the town of Bordeaux. The company TBC underwent the media repercussions of them, although not being at the origin of the choice ( CUB ), nor of the engineering problems. After these vexations, frequent during the first use of a new technology, the tram of Bordeaux functions today normally so much and so that CUB will touch royalties on the future systems of Alstom tram with food by the ground Angers, Orleans and Rheims inter alia.
To note: the three national operators, Veolia Transport, Transdev ( Subsidiary of the Deposit and consignment office ) and Keolis ( subsidiary of the Group the SNCF ), have all three summer condemned on July 7th, 2005 for agreement aiming at sharing the market of the urban transport over the period 1996 - 1998. Veolia had to pour a fine of 5 million euros.
Lastly, Veolia transport exploited since 1996 railway lines of suburbs in the south of London, until, the organizing Autorité denounces, extraordinary event the contract in 2003.

Failure in the rail in the United Kingdom
At the time of the
Deregulation of the railway sector British spouse with the
Privatization of British Rail, Connex acquired in 1996, the networks
South-Eastern (
Kent and south of London ) and
South Central (
center of the England ).
In June 2003, for repeated problems of management Connex was seen withdrawing its license in the Kent. The regulating authority of sector (the SRA), decided to put a term at its license after having refused to grant the additional subsidies to him which she claimed.
However, Veolia Transport could have to contribute for new franknesses in England if necessary and continuous to exploit several networks of bus in the country.
