Venoix
Venoix is a district of Caen located at the West of the “city to the hundred bell-towers”, at the border with Bretteville-on-Odon.
History
In 1809, the Saint-Gerbold church of Venoix, located on the edges of the Odon, is cut down. In 1869, work for the construction of the current Saint-Gerbold church starts under the direction of Leterrier and, after the death of this last, Lamotte.It is on May 6th, 1952 that the commune of Venoix is absorbed by the town of Caen. The district of Venoix however kept a " spirit; small village".

The district is mainly fed by drillings of Meadow 1.
Schools
Four schools are present in the district on two sites. The nursery schools “Jean Moulin” and “Robert Doisneau” as well as the elementary school “Jean Moulin” are located street Lucien Nelle (In the past street of the Schools!). The college “Jean Moulin” is him located street of Brocéliande.

Sport
It is in Venoix that was built the Stade Michel-in Ornano, where evolves/moves the football team of Caen, the Stade Malherbe of Caen, to replace the old Stage Cycle-racing track, said Stade of Venoix.A gymnasium (COSEC of Venoix) is also present in the district close to the nursery schools and elementary.

The district is served by 3 lines of bus.
Life of the district
Venoix, residential district, are animated by a neighborhood house, a MJC and various associations.
Each year in May /juin takes place a carnival in which takes part the schools.
Two centers of marketing activities are present. One around the church of Venoix, the other close to the Venoise Fountain.
