Veniamine Basner

Veniamine Iefimovitch Basner (in), is a Russian type-setter born on January 1st 1925 with Iaroslav, and deceased the September 3rd 1996 with Saint-Pétersbourg (Russia).

Biography

He played of the Violon as of the six years age, and this one remained touta its life during its preferred instrument. It entered then to the Conservatoire of Leningrad, which it left graduate in 1949. It on the occasion to meet Dmitri Chostakovitch, which encouraged it to become type-setter, and with which it tied a great friendship.

Its first tests of composition went back to its fifteen years. In 1955, it gained the international prize of the Type-setters with Warsaw for its second String quartet, fruit and heralding one period of great artistic fruitfulness. Basner composed for all the kinds: orcbestre, chamber music, theater, songs and cinema; at the point sometimes to take again topics of its melodies of songs in vaster parts, like its second Symphony or its fifth quartet. It composed more than one hundred film musics and approximately three hundred songs.

The drama of the Second world war, crucible of heroism, tragedy and sacrifice, was often present behind its music, in all the kinds, and found an occasion additional to be expressed in its composition for the Destiny of a man of Serguei Bondartchouk in 1959. Basner was named Artiste of the Russian peule . After its death in 1996, its name was given to a Exoplanète discovered by the Observatory of the Crimea.
