Vengo

Vengo is a Franco-Spanish film of Tony Gatlif left in 2000.

Synopsis

Caco is a proud and respected man, owner with his clan of an important nightclub in Andalusia. However it is a fragile man, wounded by the accidental death of his/her daughter and not seeking violence. But the destiny will still strike it because his/her brother, in escape with the Morocco killed a family member of Caravaca. The latter want the payment of blood and, in spite of the attempts at mediation of Caco which cannot deliver his/her brother, decide to be avenged on the son for this last, a boy handicapped under the protection of Caco. In order to break the vicious circle of revenges, it is Caco which will voluntarily go towards death.

The universe of Tony Gatlif, the gipsies, the Flamenco is carried to incandescence: “ Vengo, it is initially that: a cry, a song, an anthem with the life, the love, mourning, the pact of blood. An anthem in the Mediterranean. ” (Tony Gatlif). An extraordinary soundtrack who stresses the dramatic rise in this history worthy of an ancient tragedy, in these moments, one is fascinated by the roughness of the Cante jondo, the major song who goes up since the entrails to the mouth to project in the air the wounds of the Spanish heart gipsy, in love with the sacrifice.
