Venera 4 is a Soviet probe of the Programme Venerated launched the June 12th 1967. A little heavier than the series the Venerated 2 and 3, it was the first machine which makes a success of a data transmission during the parachute drop.
The ovoid capsule of 383 kg, descended in the atmosphere the October 18th 1967 and retransmit from measurements on the density, the temperature and the atmospheric composition of Venus. The orbital vessel relayed this information towards the the USSR, like with Jodrell Bank.
The last received signal gave a temperature of 274°C and a pressure of 22 atmospheres, which was interpreter as a cessassion of retansmission of the data around 24 km of altitude.
The measured atmospheric composition gave approximately carbon dioxide 90%, oxygen 0,8% and 1.6% of steam.
A hydrogen crown was located with 9 920 km height leaving think that the planet had let escape from water in cosmos during its youth.
