Velvet

The velvet is a fabric made on a machine with weave with two systems of chains, of which one constitutes the structure and the second a layer bringing of the velvety one. Velvet is similar to the Peluche.

When one speaks about Tapis, velvet indicates the whole of the wire of Laine which are not weft threads.

Invented by the Chinese, the velvet which they called sleeping bag of swan is spread in Iran then in Europe.

There exist two kinds of velvet:

  • cut velvet or velvet chains;
  • the velvet weaves which gives a velvet known as corded.

Expressions

  • the Chat S make leg of velvet when they touch something without leaving their claws.
  • To make eyes of velvet : to throw cherishing glances.
