Village pertaining to the Country Voironnais , located in the cold Grounds at the top of the valley of the Ainan , in a landscape magnificiently undulating and with the doors of the Chartreuse , Velanne is a small village of countryside whose breeding and agriculture still occupy the major part of the surface.

History

Velanne is a small commune of the department of the known Isere since the Roman epoch, of the vestiges of a fort were found. Its name would come from Latin " avellana" who means hazel nut, indeed at the time hazel nuts of this area would have been a true success.

Then the Moyen-âge came, which left there some traces including one famous tower, called " Turn O' Mahony" , which is with the place known as of the Mount of Velanne, only some stones scattered per Ci and there will indicate to you that you are at the good place; - P.
