Vein
see also: Etymology of Vein
In Anatomy, a vein is a vessel which allows the transport of the Sang Organe S towards the Cœur (venous return):
- of the Lung S towards the heart: the veins transport blood rich in Oxygène so that it is redistributed in the organization in systemic circulation (or great circulation)
- of the other bodies towards the heart: the veins transport blood low in oxygen and charged in Carbon dioxide, so that it “is reprocessed” by the lungs in pulmonary circulation (or “small circulation”);
- compliance* is higher to them than that of the Artères;
(*) Compliance: capacity to increase in diameter according to an unspecified increase in pressure.
The veins contain valvules which impose the direction of circulation blood. The walls of the veins are elastic.
