VectorWorks
VectorWorks is a software of CAD professional developed by Nemetschek North America (NNA) used for the drawing and modeling 3D in various branches of industry.
Description
VectorWorks is a software or rather a range of software of CAD offering of the possibilities of drawing 2D and modeling 3D, within a simple and intuitive work environment. The French version of VectorWorks includes/understands the following products:
-
VectorWorks Structures
-
VectorWorks Landmark
-
VectorWorks Spotlight
-
Standard VectorWorks
Contruites around the same core, these various solutions share same ergonomics and associate, in an integrated environment, advanced functions of drawing 2D and 3D, a base of data and a spreadsheet related to the objects of the drawing as well as many tools of organization and productivity.
VectorWorks is one of the rare software of CAD to offer a double structure of organization of the documents, in layers and classes, which allows to characterize in-depth the objects of the model without resorting to a high number of copies (Layers). This organization can be supplemented by the use of the base of data, which makes it possible to allot any type of information to any object of the drawing. The spreadsheet then acts as generator of state to exploit this information and to calculate volumes, surfaces, lengths and quantities.
VectorWorks is characterized by the richness of its graphic attributes (thicknesses and styles of line, color, ranges, textures).
The software comprises a translator of file DXF/DWG like worms of very many formats (IGES, SHP, EPSF, pdf, SAT, 3DS, JPEG, and of many other formats image)
A module of returned supplements this offer: RenderWorks. This integrated module developed starting from technology LightWorks produces made realistic in mode Raytracing or Radiosité. It also makes it possible to obtain images nonrealistic, or artistic, as well as animations and panoramas (QuickTime VR).
VectorWorks Structures
VectorWorks Architecture meets the need for the architects, decorators, interior designers. It takes again the concept of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and gathers all the tools, objects and functionalities necessary to create numerical models of architectural projects.
VectorWorks Landmark
VectorWorks Landmark is addressed to the landscape designers and offers an work environment integrated the necessary tools to carry out key plans, plans of execution, to place plants resulting from a database of plants and to model grounds.
VectorWorks Spotlight
VectorWorks Spotlight comprises in addition to the functionalities of standard VectorWorks, of the tools and libraries intended for the scenographers and lighting engineers.
Standard VectorWorks
is the version general practitioner and the core of VectorWorks. This version is appropriate for all those which seek a complete but not specialized solution of technical design.
History
VectorWorks had as a name MiniCAD until 1999. It was developed initially for the platform Macintosh by Diehl Graphsoft Inc. (now Nemetschek North America). A version for Windows appeared in 1996.
