Vault Holy-Anne-the-Fen

Holy-Anne-the-Fen is a vault located on the commune of Plonévez-Porzay, in the department of the Finistere, in the area Brittany, in France. Near bay of Douarnenez. It is also a village and a beach.

History

The vault of Holy-Anne-the-Fen of its old name in 1518 Sancta-Anna-AD-Paluden depended until the French revolution on the Abbaye on Landévennec. It is claimed that the vault goes back to the time of holy Guénolé. A stone of the bell-tower of the vault of the 17th century carried the date of 1419. The vault was recontruite several times in particular at the 17th century.

First Sunday of January 1858, the vice-chancellor of Plonévez-Porzay of the time proposed a project of enlarging of the vault. It was a question of rebuilding the chorus and both Sacristie S. the project ran up against the objections of the prefect and was abandoned.

In 1863, the vault is finally rebuilt in spite of, this time, the reserves of évêché. The new vault goes back to 1864. Joseph Bigot is the architect of this vault.

In 1903, an oratory is built on the northern blank of the vault for the use of the pilgrims increasingly more.

The fountain of 1870 replaces the shelter 1642. It is the work of Christophe Kermaïdic.

The martyrdom of the middle of the 17th century is the work of the sculptor landernéen Roland Doré.

The small one and great forgiveness

The pilgrimage of Holy-Anne took her rise in second half of the 18th century.

The small forgiveness takes place at the end of July each year.

The vault accommodates each year, for the last weekend of August, one of the most important forgiveness S of Brittany historical. It is called also the great forgiveness .

saturdays : grand opening of forgiveness to 17:00. The first Messe of forgiveness is celebrated by the vice-chancellor of Plonévez-Porzay which accommodates the first pilgrims. Towards 21:00, the procession with the torches enables them to gather in the open air in front of the furnace bridge of forgiveness for one taken care of prayer and the Eucharistie.

Sunday , the large-mass is chaired traditionally by a bishop invited by the owner of the places: évêché of Quimper and the Leon. It is followed the afternoon by a ceremony in three phases: the Vespers, the Procession and the Blessing of the Blessed Sacrament.

The crosses and banners come from all the Finistere draw on the dune an enormous coloured ribbon of golds of the banners raised by the beauty of the costumes of the carriers.

Monday morning, the vault receives the open ones for their pilgrimage and the celebration of their Baptême S. the afternoon, an office is celebrated for our Large Elder. Formerly Monday was organized the fair of Holy-Anne. This practice fell today in disuse.

Tuesday received formerly as a majority of the douarnenists for a less ambitious forgiveness. Today they are primarily the boarders of the old people's homes which provide the main part of the pilgrims.
