Vaugirard is old a common French of the department of the the Seine. It is one of the four communes entirely annexed in 1860 by Paris and was built-in essentially within the XV {{E}} district of the capital. The hamlet of Pleasure, created little before the annexation, which belonged to the commune, was attached to the 14 {{E}} district.

Its old main street gave its name to the Rue of Vaugirard, longest of Paris, and its town hall yielded the place to the town hall of XVe district.
