Located in the Hauts-de-Seine at 7 kilometers at the west of Paris (Door of Saint-Cloud), halfway between Versailles and Saint-Cloud, Vaucresson his name of green city deserves well: indeed, on a surface of 308 hectares, 22 hectares are classified in natural zone and 85 in zone of leisures. More than 30 hectares are protected like “classified as wooded spaces”.
History
Its origin is attested as of 1145 pennies the impulse of one éminant character at the same time Minister and higher abbot of the Abbaye of Saint-Denis, the abbot Suger. This one wanting to make safe the area which was infested brigands, made clear the surrounding grounds by monks. They built a church and a house. Thanks to many incentives, nearly sixty people were installed on these grounds as of the first year. There exist several explanations on the etymology of the name of the commune,

Valley-Cress were the first names before becoming the current name.

Remarkable monuments and constructions
Church built in the middle of XIIe century on order of the Suger abbot. Bell-tower restored in 1460 on order of Nicolas Dugué, first lord of Vaucresson. Church rebuilt in 1694 per Liberal Bunting, architect and Geoffroy Maillard, mason. Demolished then rebuilt in 1770. Various restorations at the XIXe century. Removal of the porch and modification of the frontage in 1904. Demolished and rebuilt in 1964 by the Kindermans architect. Only the bell-tower of XIIe century resisted the many rebuildings
Built in 1855 out of brick and stone, close to the site of the old castle of the duke of Beauvillier

It is in Vaucresson, in limit of the Forêt of False-Re-fixing, which on September 19th 1783 lands, the first Montgolfière inhabited by 3 animals, part of the place of weapons of the Château of Versailles.
