Vassieux-in-Vercors
Vassieux-in-Vercors is a common French, located in the department of the Drome and the area the Rhone-Alps.
Geography
The village is built on a small spur Calcaire, dominating of a few meters a vast lengthened depression ic Karst, of type “Polje”. This polje occupies itself part of the Synclinal generally named " Plate of Vassieux".The Plate of Vassieux is the seat many other karstic phenomena (Scialet S, Lapiaz, loss S, Grotte S…), explored and studied by the speleological clubs local.

The human and economic main activities rest on the Agriculture (breeding, wood.) and the Tourism.
History
Prehistory
- In the south of the village, one finds several sites of extraction and size of Silex, emphasized well by the Museum of Prehistory.
Resistance
- For its important facts of resistance during the Occupation, the city received the title of Compagnon of the Release. A memorial built with the collar of Chau preserves the memory of these dark events of the Second world war, it includes/understands a cemetery and a memorial to honor the victims with the tragic events of July 1944.
