Varg Qisling Larssøn Vikernes , born Kristian Vikernes the February 11th 1973, close to Bergen, in Norway. Known under the Pseudonym of Count Grishnackh during the first days of the " 2nd vague" Black Metal in Norway, Vikernes was the man behind the musical project Burzum, one of the first groups of Black Metal. It changed its Christian first name into Varg (word meaning Norwegian wolf). Thereafter, and it to pay homage to Vidkun Quisling, it changed its name into Varg Qvisling Larssøn Vikernes. It currently purges a sorrow of 21 years imprisonment - the heaviest sorrow in Norway - for the murder of Øystein Aarseth, alias Euronymous, former leader of the group Mayhem. After a missed escape at the end of 2003, its coming out of prison would be planned for 2007.

Thoughts and convictions of Vikernes

Ásatrú Vikernes is a follower of the religion Ásatrú. It helped with the creation of the movement Odaliste and has Co-founded the " Allgermanische Heidnische Front" (although he was never neither a member nor a leader, and is not associated today any more with the organization). Vikernes is the author of several short work on its Weltanschauung, “Vargsmål” (reads. “the speech of Varg”), “Irminsûl” and “Germansk Mytologi og Verdensanskuelse”. Vikernes uses readily the Germanic traditions as source of inspiration. Anti-Christianity Vikernes wrote words for many musics of the group Darkthrone (Quintessence, As Flittermice ace Spys Satans, etc) which use elements of the Germanic old man Folklore . In the latter, Satan is brought back in the context of a “Ţil” which is source of light (i.e. sun), accompanied by mentions of “lance” and “hall of battle”, which are references masked to the Germanic god Odin. That was done by considering the double direction of Odin as a " adversaire" Judeo-Christianity. Vikernes dissociates nevertheless Satanisme and regards the events of the Nineties as a reaction to Christianity.

Neonazism Openly racist and being converted with the neonazism after its imprisonment, Varg Vikernes is one of the references of the amateurs of the National socialist black metal although the texts of Burzum do not contain racist messages or néo-Nazis. According to " In Burzum Story: VII leave - The Ghost" Nazi; , it is not categorized any more like néo-Nazi, one of these reasons being the fact that the ideology Nazi categorizes the Slavic ones as Untermensch in while Vikernes respects their culture. According to Vikernes, these primary reasons are: " Contrary to them, I am not socialist (even not socialist national), I am not materialist and I believe in the old democracy scandinave." In this article, the racist theories and anti-semites of the Nazis on the other hand are not mentioned like points of disagreement.

Burzum àpres imprisonment of Vikernes After its imprisonment, Vikernes did not give up its project immediately. Having in prison only of one keyboard and a pencil to be expressed, it left two more albums environment before announcing in 2000 the end of Burzum.

Vikernes justified this decision by affirming that its discs were badly interpreted by fans too versed in the satanism, that too many " Non-Aryens" (recall: Varg is one of the heads thinking of Norsk Arisk Black Metal, which preaches the true Black Metal as a Norwegian and Aryan) listened to it and that any music derived from the rock'n'roll was affiliated with styles that he regards as " dégénérés" and with the row of which figure according to him the Blues because of its origins Afro-Americans.

In a published official statement a few months ago on its site of Russian support, Varg Vikernes announced that it would enjoy to perhaps remake some discs if the desire took to him.
