Vantaa ( Vanda in Swedish) is one of the cities constituting the agglomeration of Helsinki in Finland, forming with Espoo and Kauniainen the Région of Helsinki. The commune borders the Finnish capital in north. It has only a few tens of meters of maritime frontage, separating Helsinki and Sipoo on the level from the district of Länsisalmi .

With a population of approaching the 190.000 inhabitants, it is the 4th town of Finland. It has the largest airport of Finland, the international Aéroport Helsinki-Vantaa.

Vantaa draws its name from the river Vantaa. It obtained the statute of borough only in 1972 and that of city that in 1974.

Vantaa is known to be the birthplace in particular of the pilot of formula 1 Mika Häkkinen and of the skijumper Tami Kiuru.

The principal districts are Tikkurila, Myyrmäki, Martinlaakso, Hakunila, Koivukylä and Korso.

The scientific center Heureka offers the access to the scientific knowledge and the comprehension of the scientific phenomena. It opened its doors in 1989 and proposes many exposures.

In addition to Helsinki in the south, the close communes and cities are Espoo in the west, Nurmijärvi in the North-West, Tuusula and Kerava in north and finally Sipoo in the east (Uusimaa of the East).
