Vanak
Vanak ونک is a district of the north of Teheran, the capital of the Iran.
Its name wants to say “small tree” into Persan and comes from the name of the village which existed before in the surroundings, Deh-e Vanak , of which there remains a small old center still today, with in particular a small place and a Zourkhāneh.
It is a district where the multitude is large, with high buildings (of which the residence Parc of the Princes built by the French in the Années 1970 with the crossing of the avenues Kordestān and Mollā Sadrā) and a ground of Golf, as well as coffees and shopping malls. There is also an amusement park, the Shahr-e Bazi (formerly called Luna Park ), closed since 1995.
The roundabout of Vanak is an important crossroads of Teheran. Several highways leave there, of which the Jahan-Kudak and the Mollā Sadrā . The Which occurred Vali-ye Asr, the longest avenue of Teheran, also crosses it.
An influential Armenian community is present at Vanak, in particular in the old village of Vanak, where one can see a Armenian apostolic church. Today, the Armenian have a sports complex called Ararat.
There exists a village of the same name with Farahan (Ashtian) in the province of Markazi. Mirza Hassan Ashtiani Mostowfi ol-Mamalek, old Prime Minister of Persia, was probably born there. Its tomb is in private property in the district of Vanak.
