Van Hool

Van Hool is a Belgian company which manufactures vehicles intended for the Public transport as well as trailers, frame and conteneurs-citernes. The company is the leading vendor for transport as common Belgians, like the STIB, for example. It is located at Koningshooikt, in province of Antwerp.

February 15th, 1957 a trade agreement was signed with FIAT V.I. . Van Hool was going to continue to integrate mechanical engines and other components FIAT (gear box, axes, flying). Van Hool had passed from carriage-builder to Belgian manufacturer to whole share of bus and coaches, which carried the mark Van Hool-FIAT . Moreover, the company remained a famous carriage-builder, which was going to still allow an expansion. Moreover, Van-Hool became also manufacturer under license of trucks FIAT; thus a big number of trucks FIAT 682 and FIAT 619 were built for the markets of Northern Europe for this period.

Immediately the products resulting from collaboration Van Hool-FIAT had a very great success: already in August the 100e Van Hool-FIAT bus was delivered, and in July 1961 the course of the 500 coaches Van Hool-FIAT was exceeded.

In 1981, Van Hool put an end to its long collaboration with division V.I of FIAT. Thus the statute of manufacturer independent of Van Hool was affirmed more. More than 10.000 buses and Van-Hool coaches were equipped with mechanics FIAT.
