Vampirefreaks.com is a virtual community for the amateurs of Gothic Mode which makes it possible its members to post photographs, of poster of the comments, to create a personal profile and to communicate by way of forum.

Although wanting to be a community for the “  Gothic culture industrial   ”, of the users (of the teenagers for the majority) resulting from the subcultures emo, metal, and others converge on the site, adding up more than one million members.

Criminal members

The site made the cuffs on several occasions because of the criminal acts made by some of its members whose bonds with the site were very médiatisés.

  • Kimveer Gill, person in charge of the shooting of the College Dawson with Montreal (Quebec) in September 2006

  • Jasmine Richardson and Jeremy Steinke, persons in charge of the murders of three Richardson family members to Medicine Hat (Alberta) in April 2006
  • Eric Fischer of the Long Island, accused to have used VampireFreaks.com to attract minor girls to devote itself to sex acts in a cemetery in April 2006
  • Jeremy Thomas, which also used the site to trap girls of minor age (July 2005).

The members of the community react very highly to any suggestion that the site attracts and encourages people likely to commit crimes violent one. September 21st, 2006, the site announces that it launches a financing campaign for the ill children to Quebec “so that the young people realize that the Gothic movement does not have anything of frightening and is not composed of dangerous criminals, as claim it some”. The site does not receive itself the collected funds; he asks his members to send their money directly to the Foundation of the Hospital of Montreal for children.
