Vamana

In the Hindouisme, Vâmana is the fifth misadventure of Vishnou. It is descended on ground for réfréner the desires from conquest from the demon Bali, which estimated to reign on the three worlds (sky, ground and hells). Vamana is represented in the shape of a dwarf, and he says to Bali: “The world will be divided in two parts: the first, as large and wide as three steps of dwarf, will be under the responsibility of the gods, the second part will return to you. ” Bali accepted the market, but Vamana regained its initial shape, that of Vishnou and traversed in three steps the three worlds. In its great kindness, it sent Bali to keep the hells.

Another version

In another version of the myth, Vamana would have completely destroyed Bali and the parts of its body would have become invaluable stones.
