Vallon-Pont-d\'Arc

Vallon-Pont-d'Arc is a common French, located in the department of the Ardèche and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Vallon-Pont-d'Arc is a high place of prehistory and cultural tourism. This small village, peaceful in winter, sees its population multiplied by 10 in summer. Its tourist importance comes especially from what it is the starting point of the descent of the gorges of Ardeche (of the Bridge of Arc with Saint-Martin-in Ardèche).


Geography

Vallon-Pont-d'Arc is located at the doors of the one of the most beautiful tourist sites of France: the Gorges of Ardeche. Famous the Bridge of Arc, natural arch of more than 30 meters height dug by the river Ardeche and classified Great Site of France, gave him its name.

Events

The village is very alive, especially the summer, with in its center of many trade like its markets of Thursday morning and Tuesday into night, which are a large success.

Each summer, many events are organized there: the festival of the lavender and the festival of the olive-tree, days of prehistory with exposures, workshops, conferences and projections which proceed over one week after August 15th.
