The valley of Chevreuse is the name given to the valley of the Yvette, affluent of the Orge running in the departments of the Yvelines and the the Essonne. This name indicates the whole of the communes of the neighborhoods of Chevreuse (Saint-Rémy-the-Chevreuse, Choisel, Dampierre, etc) included in the Regional natural park of the high valley of Chevreuse and the cities downstream until Palaiseau: Gif-sur-Yvette, Bore-hole-on-Yvette, Orsay, Villebon-sur-Yvette

She became since the Années 1950 a large European scientific pole, with in particular the establishment of the Université of Paris XI, of Supélec, Polytechnique, SupOptique, IUT, ECA (on the Plateau of Saclay), and of the Vallée of the optics which extends towards Marcoussis, with inter alia the establishments of search for Alcatel.

Until Saint-Rémy-the-Chevreuse, the valley is served by the southern branch of the RER B.
